Love of Allah

Ibn Qayyim said that there are ten things that bring about the love of Allah:

1) Recitation of the Qur'an with reflection and with understanding of its meanings.

2) Seeking closeness to Allah by performing voluntary deeds after having performed obligatory ones, for that leads one to the highest levels of love.

3) Remembering Allah during every situation - with one’s time, heart and deeds … one’s share of that love is to the degree of one’s share in that remembrance.

4) Preferring what He loves to what you love when your desires are strong.

5) Allowing your heart to reflect on His Names and Attributes.

6) Reflecting on His many favors and blessings, both the apparent ones and hidden ones…

7) Having your heart softened as it is worshipping Allah.

8) Being alone with Him in worship when He descends during the last third of the night. And this means to invoke Him, to recite His Speech, to stand with all sincerity and with good manners and with good submission, and then to end that with repentance and with seeking His forgiveness.

9) Sitting with those who are truthful in their love of Allah.

10) Staying away from all that creates barriers between the heart and Allah.

Al Ghafar

““There’s something about the ones who remember Allah.
They are like the birds in the morning,
Grasping the Dhikr of the Most High.
Day and Night,
Night and Day,
As the moon on its course, never deviating.

But there is something,

Something more beautiful,

Something more powerful,

About those who Fall,

And Fall,

And Fall,

Yet they never stay down

The ones who walk back to Him,

The ones who run back to Him,

The ones who crawl back to Him.

Those are the ones who say ‘Our Lord if you don’t forgive then surely we will be among the losers.
’
Those are the ones who make his name stand out;
 'The Forgiver’

Allah Maha Romantis

Ujar saya, menyesal.

Rizqa menggelengkan kepalanya. “Belum tentu,” katanya, “Bisa jadi justru kita bakal nyesel mengapa kita punya kesempatan buat liburan.” Sambungnya sambil tersenyum.

Saya mengangguk setuju.

Minggu demi minggu berlalu, bulan terus berganti.

“This bed is a robot!” Sahutnya, ceria.

Saya tersenyum menyaksikan semuanya. Betapa hidup ini indah. Seperti sebuah film… Seperti sebuah lagu…

—Untuk kalian yang sedang menghadapi musibah. Tariklah nafas sejenak. Sebab Tuhan Maha Romantis.

The Prophet Muhammad's ﷺ Farewell Sermon

“Oh people, just as you regard this month, this day, this city as Sacred, so regard the life and property of every Muslim as a sacred trust. Return the goods entrusted to you to their rightful owners. Hurt no one so that no one may hurt you.

Remember that you will indeed meet your Lord, and that He will indeed reckon your deeds. Allah has forbidden you to take usury (interest), therefore all interest obligation shall henceforth be waived. Your capital, however, is yours to keep. You will neither inflict nor suffer any inequity.

Beware of Satan, for the safety of your religion. He has lost all hope that he will ever be able to lead you astray in big things, so beware of following him in small things.

Oh people, it is true that you have certain rights with regard to your women, but they also have rights over you. Remember that you have taken them as your wives only under Allah’s trust and with His permission. If they abide by your right then to them belongs the right to be fed and clothed in kindness. Do treat your women well and be kind to them for they are your partners and committed helpers.

And it is your right that they do not make friends with any one of whom you do not approve, as well as never to be unchaste.

Oh people, listen to me in earnest, worship Allah, say your five daily prayers, fast during the month of Ramadan, and give your wealth in Zakat. Perform Hajj if you can afford to.

All mankind is from Adam and Eve, an Arab has no superiority over a non-Arab nor a non-Arab has any superiority over an Arab; also a white has no superiority over black nor a black has any superiority over white except by piety and good action.
Learn that every Muslim is a brother to every Muslim and that the Muslims constitute one brotherhood. Nothing shall be legitimate to a Muslim which belongs to a fellow Muslim unless it was given freely and willingly. Do not, therefore, do injustice to yourselves.

Remember, one day you will appear before Allah and answer your deeds. So beware, do not stray from the path of righteousness after I am gone.

Oh people, no prophet will come after me and no new faith will born. Reason well, therefore, oh people, and understand words which I convey to you. I leave behind me two things, the Quran and my example, the sunnah and if you follow these you will never go astray.

All those who listen to me shall pass on my words to others and those to others again; and may the last ones understand my words better than those who listen to me directly. Be my witness, oh Allah, that I have conveyed your message to your people.

You

Sometimes fate is like a small sandstorm that keeps changing directions. You change direction but the sandstorm chases you. You turn again, but the storm adjusts. Over and over you play this out, like some ominous dance with death just before dawn. Why? Because this storm isn’t something that blew in from far away, something that has nothing to do with you. This storm is you. Something inside of you. So all you can do is give in to it, step right inside the storm, closing your eyes and plugging up your ears so the sand doesn’t get in, and walk through it, step by step. There’s no sun there, no moon, no direction, no sense of time. Just fine white sand swirling up into the sky like pulverized bones. That’s the kind of sandstorm you need to imagine.

And you really will have to make it through that violent, metaphysical, symbolic storm. No matter how metaphysical or symbolic it might be, make no mistake about it: it will cut through flesh like a thousand razor blades. People will bleed there, and you will bleed too. Hot, red blood. You’ll catch that blood in your hands, your own blood and the blood of others.

And once the storm is over you won’t remember how you made it through, how you managed to survive. You won’t even be sure, in fact, whether the storm is really over. But one thing is certain. When you come out of the storm you won’t be the same person who walked in. That’s what this storm’s all about.”

Dear Allah

Thanking You Right Now

Dear Allah

I want to thank You for what you have already done.

I am not going to wait until I see results or receive rewards

I am not going to wait until I feel better or things look better.

I’m not going to wait until people say they are sorry or until they stop talking about me.

I am not going to wait until the pain in my body disappears.

I am not going to wait until my financial situation is improved

I am not going to wait until the children are asleep and the house is quiet.
I am not going to wait until I get promoted at work or until I get the job.

I am not going to wait until I understand every experience in my life that has caused me pain or grief.

I am not going to wait until the journey gets easier or the challenges are removed.

I am thanking you right now.
I am thanking you because I am alive. I am thanking you because I made it through the days of difficulties. I am thanking you because I have walked around the obstacles.

I am thanking you because I have the ability and the opportunity to do more and do better.

I am thanking you because You haven’t given up on me.
