The Proposal

The Proposal is a cute movie- Comparing “Ghost of Past Girlfriends and “The Proposal”, the 1st movie is funnier but in term of sweetness, “The Proposal” is much sweeter. It is not sweet enough to make me cry though.

Ryan Reynolds… is handsome, gorgeous, delicious and yummy – hmm what else can I say- and he definitely can act- where were you before?

Sandra is still hot though her charm girl- next- door- look cannot be compared to the same Sandra who was in “While You Were Sleeping” or “Speed “. When paired with Ryan, I think she looks old. Anyway she is one of the producers, who cares..hehehe. She can choose any leading man whom she wants…

This is a typical romantic comedy with family as a background –

Sandra is Margaret - an aggressive boss and very much not likable by her staff and her personal assistant (Ryan- Andrew) . She is the kind of person who gets what she wants – by hook or by crook .

Margaret is a Canadian citizen whose visa has expired and she needs a reason to stay put in US and continue working her current job. Mischievously, she forced Andrew to marry her as part of her so called business arrangement – in return , Ryan will be promoted and be made an Editor- a position that he has waited for so long.

Despite her intimidating and dominating attitude, Margaret , however, has a softer side. And Andrew is able to see and find out about this side of hers while they are spending the weekend in Ryan hometown –attending Andrew’s grandma 90 years old birthday party.

Things got complicated when Margaret becomes too involved - emotionally- with Andrew’s warm and cheerful family. Things become more havoc when Andrew's family asks them to wed that very weekend – the birthday party turn into a wedding ceremony.

I enjoyed the film . Funniness comes naturally looking at Ryan or Sandra reactions or words spoken by them and the rest of the cast. Some parts of the film shows Sandra’s acting style and character’s vulnerability just like she was in “While You Were Sleeping”- both films have wedding scene –

maybe .. just MAYBE this kind of romantic comedy is just too old for Sandra. I think , Kate Hudsons or Reese W or some other younger generation actress may do more justice- It is only a thought……but what the heck- in hollywood nobody is old - heheh
