Today is the day - my first time since years - that I attend such a formal event with all the government formality - at Er's parent-teacher-briefing.
Suddenly, I hear all the school jargon . PK HEM, PK Co, PBT, Jacof, POL - do they expect us to know all this short forms ? heheh after a while I kind of get it - Then the Puan-puan, Tuan -Tuan, the greeting to each one with the right pangkat (designation), the doa starting the majlis-( never mind that there are quite a number of non Muslim around. (not for me to critic the school on my daugther's 1st day - minta maaf cikgu- but maybe we need to acknowledge them by saying those who are not muslim can join in by praying in their own religion?)).
They do a very lengthy explanation ensuring all parents to put their trust on them. Parents can accompany their children for a period of 1 week only. Even then, they are not allowed to hover by the classroom. Please wait in the canteen they said. And please ignore your children if they cry or throw a tantrum. Let them, they will be ok- the teachers said ( I could not imagine this :)).
Luckily Er is doing ok-Anyway she has gone to school for 3 consecutives years. Kindie has definitely helped her alot. Of course when we leave her in her new class, surrounding by new faces, she looks like she is about to break into tears :) and I feel like crying also for whatever stupid reason that hits my motherly instinct. Anyway , 2 hours later after the briefing ends, and we go to fetch her for a morning tea break, she is as noisy as the bird, chirping about her day. So I guess she has settled herself comfortably then.

The children are given a diagnostic test just to separate them between who are good in Bahasa and who are not - (more on whether you can read or not) to facilitate future teaching. Standard 1-3 will not be differentiated by any children's level of intelligence (like kelas A pandai, kelas B sederhana pandai and so on) . All will remain in the same class until standard 3- fine with me.
A new experience today - for me :). A busy year ahead- who knows if Ummi want to be involved in school activities and PIBG actively? :)(macam la banyak masa kan )
PS: now since Er is already in formal school, I cannot just simply take off and balik kampung and Er to be absent on Friday and Monday :). Cannot sesuka ponteng lagi heheh. So the whole family will be tied down also.
