Daring Thief

Thief is becoming more creative these days- Not enough with pick pocket and snatch theft, there is another group of what I called a daring thief.

My friend got robbed during the day- in a crowded place - in front of ATM machine and in front of so many people queuing up waiting for their turn. And the ATM machine is in a safe guarded area - somewhere around the hospital lobby (Selangor Medical Centre).

She keyed in her pin number, inserted her ATM card and waited patiently. Transaction completed and quickly she grabbed her card. While waiting for the money to come out (some ATM machine money is out first then card but some others the card will appear first and money later) her phone rang, she  searched for her mobile in her bag and in a split second, somebody just walked pass her and grabbed the money from the machine slot. She looked up in a shock but that person was already no where to be seen . He mingled and blended with the crowd very quickly .

Luckily she only withdrew RM200- If she was withdrawing a maximum number of notes allowed (RM 1500 or RM3000), she would be crying as it is indeed not a small amount of money.

Yet she is so thankful because  she is not a victim of snatch theft who got dragged down, wounded, paralyzes and dead (if not coma).

To all friends out there- please be extra careful- make sure you take your card and money first - put them safely in your wallet or handbag and then only make your way out - do not pick up any phone call while doing your ATM transaction- be alert of all the people around you.
