Where We Were -Part 2

Please click here for part 1  :) - they are not related though :)

Being 17 was sweet was it?

But I think being 18 going to 22 was sweeter, :) -

Then, life was full of energy and excitement . A new freedom beckoned

Yet, we carried heavy burden on our shoulder- bringing our parent’s hopes and dreams with us

Campus, rented apartment and library were our homes and bed :) -

But life, then, was not without the hardship, the longing, the missing of home sweet home, and the loved ones,

Life then was not without a betrayal of a close friend, or a throbbing pain of a broken love ,

Life then was not without difficulties, the failed subjects and rejected papers

And life then was filled with so many uncertainties - a struggle to find out who and what we were and what we wanted to be,

Then, life seemed like a never ending journey for us to paint our own destiny

Hmm I was there - scared not being able to cope up - with the culture, with the study, with the new friends- missing my parents - missing my bed :).
Study was hard- competition was stiff
Peers were siblings - for me to share my happy and sad moment.
Lectures were not easily understood - quizzes not always with good marks -
Life could get hard - emotion could go unstable
Friendship was not always on a great note- siblings did fight you know and
heart did break into pieces, a nervous breakdown could happen :)

But of course there were many sweet unforgettable memories -
hours of walking, from home to campus and from one campus's building to another,
late night studying- burn the midnight oil :), hours and hours of phone conversation to the nearby neighbor :), or to the far away home , gossiping during review and discussion- stealing a quick glance or a peek to the one and only :), a crush was on (and off :))

Oh I remember those days - dunkin donut was next to my house, Italian pizza was down the corner-where we ordered and asked them not to cut the pizza into smaller slices (simply because we have the feelings that they used the same knife to cut non halal beef :) - very clever was it ? heheh you are right) walking up the hill passing through the graveyard to go to the Chinese restaurant- again very clever - just order seafood would you :), a rental videos shop down the road, laudry mart at the end of the junction, cinema trip every Friday- and a bit of shopping with whatever left :)

In retrospect, life was not that bad, it was not hard at all
whatever problems encountered, were very minor -
life challenges were greater than that -
college life was the best but it is not the most difficult phase of our life

So to those sisters of mine who are still struggling out there- whenever you are - your mission and your sole responsibility is only one- to excel :),  just get the study right :) no matter how hard you think your life at this moment is - believe me - this is nothing -

Hang on there, face all the challenges, overcome all your weakest emotions,
make the hard become easier - the heavy become lighter -
smile and laugh, cry and sob :)
seize your day,
seize the precious moment - of being 18 to 22 :)

You will miss this moment later :)

Cheers

p/s: class of 1995-1997 CWRU - thanks for the memories
p/s 2: where were you dear dear semua when you were 18 into 22 ?:)
