Remembering My Mother

My mother was a pretty lady. I used to think of her as bintang filem everytime I look at her young photo.

My mother was a housewife cum a fruitseller. She helped my father in the market. She only took rm10 as a pocket money. She went to the market at noon - riding her basikal tua.

My mother loved to main kutu. She was trusted by her friends as kepala kutu. She was always the last one to get her money as she allowed all her other friends to have their own turn. Sapa nak pakai duit nak cepat, ambilla no 1 no 2. Her last kutu money was 1 month before she died.

Most of her jewelry was bought with kutu money. In the old days. she collected her rm10 pocket money daily and accumulated them for her kutu contribution.

My mother always thought of us when she ate any delicious things. Delicacies that she bought, or food that our neighbour gave.  She would always keep them aside for us if it tasted good. She would taste only a bit so that we could have a bigger portion.

My mother always shed tears everytime she watched hindustan movie or drama melayu. And I would laugh and tease her - apa la ibu, cite ni pun nak nangis :)

My mother had the kindest heart-always took pity of others and always lent money to her friends.

My mother hand fed me.

My mother accompanied me to my school bus stop at 6.30 every morning. She cycled her basikal  tua with me sitting at the back. 

She cooked in the morning, went to the market in the afternoon and did house chores in the night.

She was a superwoman of her generation
