When IM is no more

Chatting is fun - IRC chat, , FB chat, YM chat, Skype chat (belum try)  and in my office there was IM chat - IM stands for instance message. It linked all of us in the building and the whole UTSB networks - dealer and branch and HQ - whoever has it configured or has enabled the chat feature.

We use it for work and non work matters :). But I use it more on work matters - about 70% maybe (ceh) and another 30% maybe used on non work - gossiping or simply chatting (still about important matters :)) - esp during the difficult hours when  my eyelid was about to shut off :) - so it has its purpose, you see - a good one, definitely - so that I can stay awake  haha -

Why is IM  so important? Because it is so easy, fast, and free :). Because it is hard to reach each other in the office - serious k- people are either not at their place or go for a meeting or go walking around :). So how do you reach them? By using IM.

'Bella, return my call please', 'Hi, are u there?, can I see you now?' or 'helloooooooooo are u there? why did not pick up my call? urgent'. Even dealer from Sabah and Sarawak communicate with me using IM - 'Erma, I called but you were not around, can you return my call?'- so I pun sebagai employee yang berkaliber (heheh)  nampakja IM tu - terus call immediately - tanpa berlengah-lengah..

IM is also fun , "woit - borak ngan aku, ngantuk ni" or 'apa boss cakap tadi ada token ke?' or  'eh apa yang boss menceceh kat ko tadi - aku terdengar gak sikit' hehe me being kepochi

When we have more than one IM windows, our desktop starts having blink blink contest - here is blink and there is blink  (the IM boxes blinks waiting to be opened/responded) - sometimes boss lalu tegur amboi banyaknya IM, but of course sebagai pekerja berkaliber, I will ignore all IM if I am just too busy with something - it is just the right thing to do kan :) - so tidak melalai kan langsung la I rasa :)

But IT has blocked, terminated, discontinued it - no reason given - to enable the server to be more efficient or maybe to  make us  more efficient  :) focus more on work and  do less chatting :)

Without it life in the office is boring :) and  it causes me and the other colleagues inconveniences - now we need to look through the office directory and dial up people extension numbers - and I will need to call again and again if they are not around.

Most of the time, I end up sending sms to my colleague mobiles using my own personal mobile - one, because that way is faster, 2ndly, because I am too lazy to find their extension numbers in the directory list, berpinau pinau mata :). - oh yes we can use email but the response time will be slightly longer - and on non work matters, I will send  short and funny email  like "free for lunch today " on the header but nothing in the email itself  :)
